I Am Only Clay
I am only clay,
empty, dry, and poor; looking for life’s way, I knock on Your door. I am only clay, needy, marred and weak, asking You each day, in my life to speak. I am only clay, to You I must come; fashion me I pray, I yearn to become. I am only clay, make me as You will; help me not to sway; cause me to be still. I am only clay, sitting at Your feet; I am here to stay, oh, You are so sweet. I am only clay, in the Potter’s hand; to me come what may, I will firmly stand. I am only clay, made whole by Your word; and now this I say, I’m glad You’re my Lord. By Ernst Louis From my book Never Alone (Poetry Meets Faith)
“O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter?” saith the LORD. “Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.”
Jeremiah 18:6 KJV
